Every radio talk show, every newspaper and magazine article, every news story somehow focuses on the difficult financial times we’re in. The layoffs, the store closings, the holiday season sales reports. Detriot’s bailout. The bailout of banks and insurance companies. The foreclosures and people losing their houses. And the tight credit that is shutting down car loans, mortgages and even credit cards.
It’s pretty hard to escape thinking aobut money.
And, after all, we all need something of money to get by. The current times just put an exclamination point on our need.
This deeply felt need opens doors for conversations with people who want to talk about their fears, their uncertainity, their questions about future hopes and dreams.
Could it possibly be that God is bringing a little smack down (not as harsh as it could be) to America? Is he trying to get our attention? Is it possible that years of making a priority of wealth, consumerism, materialism, spending, acquiring is catching up with us — is it possible that maybe God is trying to tell us something?
I think so.
If that is the case, what is God trying to tell me? Tell you?
