Mid-week GNBC Family News | Vol 2/No 2

JANUARY 16, 2019

Hi Good News family!

Here’s a few things you should know this week…

> WHAT ARE ALL THOSE BOOKS WITH NAMES THAT ARE HARD TO PRONOUNCE – AND WHY DO THEY MATTER? Zechariah, Malachi, Haggai – their names are odd, and their books are sometimes difficult to read and understand. But the prophets had an important message to the B.C. Jews – and they have an important message to 21st century followers of Jesus. Find out this Sunday as I talk through the message of the 5 major prophets and the 12 minor prophets from 1 Kings 17-19, 2 Kings 2, 4, 6, Hosea 4-5, 8-9, 14, Amos 1, 3-5, 9, (The Story, chapter 15).

> BEN PARKER’S DAD, ROBERT PARKER, CROSSED OVER TO GLORY TODAY Cards can be sent to Ben & Jenn at 1490 Sunnyside Road, Nichols, NY, 13812. We will pass on more information about arrangements as it becomes available.

> PRAYER & PRAISE…

  • Pray for the evangelism team as they engage in conversations Sunday afternoons at Emerald Square Mall. See Geddy Kohler for more information.
  • Praise God for the safe delivery of Phineas Lovelesss, born last Thursday to Mo and Jonny Loveless in Dubuque, Iowa.
  • Pray for Justin & Steph and their team of volunteers leading the MS+HS Youth Ministry on Wednesday nights.

> THANK YOU TO THE DEACONS – Joan LeClerc passes her appreciation to the GNBC deacons for arranging to have a handicapped ramp built at her house in North Attleboro, making it easier for her to get in and out for doctors’ appointments, etc.

> GNBC CANCELLATION POLICY Good News Bible Chapel encourages individuals and families to rely on their own best judgement when conditions such as inclement weather, dangerous road conditions, or other emergency situations might put their health or safety at risk.
SUNDAY MORNING SERVICES – The Deacons and Elders will make a decision about delays or cancellation based on weather forecasts. There will be notification on www.gnbc.org, on the GNBC Facebook page, through this email list, and a message on the GNBC phone answering message (508.226.2916).
LIFE GROUPS – Individual LG leaders will notify their LG members of the plan to cancel at least one half hour prior to the meeting time.
BIBLE STUDIES, YOUTH GROUPS, and OTHER EVENTS – Cancellation will be at the discretion of the ministry leaders. The leaders will notify the participants by Facebook and/through this Chapel email list.

> HEY GUYS! MARK YOUR CALENDAR! The Men’s Breakfast is Saturday, January, 26th, 7:30-9:30am at the Chapel. Starts with breakfast, then goes into the first video of a new multi-session video series, “Stepping Up: A call to courageous manhood,” with Dennis Rainey, Coach Tony Dungee, Voodie Bauchman, Matt Chandler, and others. Don’t miss a great chance to get to know brothers at GNBC, and get some solid biblical coaching as a man, husband, and dad. Sign up by Jan 20th so we can order enough bacon and books. See Stu MacKeller or Darian Medeiros with any questions.

> ANNUAL GNBC CORPORATION MEETING, Sunday February 3rd at 12:30pm in the Blue Classroom. This is the annual meeting required by Massachusetts law to elect new officers of the 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, approve a budget for 2019, etc. (The GNBC By-laws say the combined elders + deacons are the voting members of the corporation.)

> UPDATE – NEED A RECEIPT FOR 2018 GIVING? Connect directly with Art Warner (508.930.4538) for a tax-deductible receipt for your giving to the Lord at GNBC this year.

> MISSED A SUNDAY? You can always get the Sunday sermon here — listen online or download the MP3 — plus get a PDF of the sermon notes, plus a PDF of the weekly Program with announcements, prayer page, gospel page, Global Reach Partners update, and the current Life-Group list, etc. All available each week here.

I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. – EPHESIANS 1:16-20 NLT

Only by grace,
Steve
